All Things Chocolate Roll Contest — Enter Today!!

The Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce announces the “All Things Chocolate Roll Contest”.

Do you know who invented the chocolate roll?  How did chocolate rolls get their start in Searcy County?  The Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce is looking for answers to those types of questions and is sponsoring a contest for the best chocolate roll stories and photos.  There will be two categories; written and photography.  First place in each category wins $100, second place $50, and third place $25.  Ultimately, the Chamber hopes to use the submissions to put together a book on chocolate rolls that will be sold to the public with proceeds going to the Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce.  This contest and the resulting book are part of the Chamber’s Chocolate Roll Capital of the World™ Initiative.  Enter now and help us record and preserve the history of the chocolate roll.

The types of entries in the written category can include stories about the history and origins of chocolate rolls, with specific attention to Searcy County, a favorite chocolate roll recipe along with a story, humorous stories involving chocolate rolls, descriptions of chocolate rolls, family memories about chocolate rolls, poetry and so forth.

Photography might include photos of chocolate rolls being made and photos of chocolate rolls being eaten.  They can be color or black and white, but please send in a digital format.

Please note:  All contest submissions of stories, recipes, photos and the like become the property of the Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce and may be used for any purpose.  By submitting stories, recipes, photos and the like, you grant the Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce full right to use of the material, including your name, town, and state.  The contestant hereby relinquishes any right, title, claim, copyright, patent and the like regarding said stories, recipes, photos and the like.

Please send all submissions, along with your name and phone number, to: webmaster@searcycountyarkansas.org or mail to Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce, P. O. Box 1385, Marshall, AR  72650.

Entry deadline is 7 January 2013.  Winners will be awarded their prize money at the 2nd Annual Chocolate Roll Festival in Marshall on Saturday, March 16, 2013.  Chocolate rolls are a unique part of Searcy County’s heritage and culture.  Enter today.  This is your chance to be included in the world’s most definitive book on a Searcy County dessert, the chocolate roll.
