A new group of local growers is organizing in Searcy County to start a new Farmers Market group for selling local produce. Searcy County Farmers Markets held their second organization meeting on April 11, just after the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Petit Jean conference room. The new group has also joined the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce as members. Officers were elected and a permanent home of the old Berry Shed in Marshall was chosen.
The new group has the full support and cooperation of the Searcy County Chamber and is working closely with the chamber’s Agri Tourism committee for promotion and organizing assistance.
The first “Farm Market” is planned for Saturday May 3rd, in conjunction with the “Taste of Searcy County” event, promoted by the chamber and by Ozark Byways.
Officers who were elected were: President Cynthia Garmoe, Vice President Wilma Gener, Secretary Helen Griffin, 1st Treasurer Nikki Jewel, 2nd Treasurer Brian Griffin, Historian David Garmoe, Historical Advisor Ken Fariss, Board Members, Betty Jewel, David Garmoe and L. C. Ratchford.
If you would like to join this group of Searcy County growers and market your farm products to the public, please call President Cynthia Garmoe at 479-236-0046 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
