The 12th Annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet at the Searcy County Civic Center in Marshall is planned for Thursday, 5 March at 6pm! Catered by Kelly & Nikki Small BBQ! Banquet cost is $20 per attendee. A limited number of round tables will be available for $250. Our special guest speaker is Anthony DeVore! The theme for this Semiquincentennial year is Faith, Family, Freedom! Attendees are encouraged to wear Red, White, & Blue, Festive America, or Colonial! Anthony DeVore was born and raised in Leslie, Arkansas, where he graduated from Leslie High School in 1986. He remains deeply connected to his hometown and currently serves as President of the Leslie High School Alumni Association. DeVore is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and is a proud lifetime member of the UCA Alumni Association. Recently retired, DeVore concluded a distinguished 35-year career in public education that spanned two states and five school districts. Throughout his career, he taught a wide range of courses including history, English, career orientation, and special education. His work in education reflects a lifelong commitment to learning, mentorship, and service. A passionate local historian, DeVore has maintained strong ties to Searcy County throughout his life. He has authored numerous articles on Searcy County history, many of which have been published locally. He has also spoken for the Searcy County Historical Society and continues to attend meetings when possible.
DeVore is deeply committed to his Christian faith and has been actively involved in church life for decades. He continues to teach Sunday school and participates in the church choir and special music ministries.
In his personal time, DeVore enjoys reading, writing, and traveling—interests he now has more time to pursue in retirement. Anthony and his wife, Cherie, reside in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Please RSVP to the chamber at 870-448-2557.
