The goal of this program is to build our community theater by creating a welcoming place for anyone interested in the performing arts. We would like to start a community drama club that is open to people of all ages and experience levels. Whether someone wants to act, learn stage makeup, run lights and sound, help backstage, build sets, work with costumes, or simply be involved, there would be a place for them. One of our biggest goals is to offer beginner acting classes to help people build confidence and discover that theater doesn't have to be intimidating. Many people never audition simply because they don't think they know how to act. We want to change that. Ideally, the group would meet once a week. Meetings could include acting workshops, improvisation games, script readings, theater warm-ups, and opportunities to learn different aspects of production. We'd also like to make it fun by occasionally providing pizza, taking trips to see live theater, watching classic plays and films, and simply enjoying time together as a creative community. Most importantly, we want this to be something people look forward to. It shouldn't feel like another job or obligation. Whether someone is a teacher, a mechanic, a student, a retiree, or anything else, when they come to drama club, they can leave that role at the door and simply enjoy creating something together. Our hope is that this program will strengthen our theater, bring new people into the arts, build confidence, develop friendships, and create a stronger sense of community. If we invest in people first, we'll naturally build stronger productions in the future.
